Glenn is available for monthly club meetings, banquets, fly-fishing group and fly-shop tying demonstrations by appointment. Our “custom” presentations feature digital quality photography & Power Point format. We spend a lot of time at the tying bench and a lot of time on the water and we enjoy sharing our experiences with others. Glenn is a very good speaker in a group setting and regularly gets asked back to present again.

Each presentation or demonstration is detailed below:

Presentations & Demonstrations available:

50 Pictures - 50 Tips to Improve Your Fly-Fishing - (Fly-Fishing talk)

Most fly-fishing clubs’ list of annual speakers look familiar. Often, the subject matter is a specific river, region, or species of fish, just like some of our presentations! It is with this information in mind that I started to build this presentation several years ago. 50 Pictures – 50 Tips is essentially a collection of slides designed to lead a fun, light conversation about tips & techniques we have learned or “stolen” over our years of fly-tying and fly-fishing.

A handout listing all 50 tips is included.

Target audience: This presentation is mainly for a fly-fishing audience.

Northeast Yellowstone National Park - (Hiking & Fly-Fishing talk)

While we are certainly not experts on the vast wilderness of Yellowstone Park, we have made several extended trips- specifically to the Northeast part of the Park. This presentation will take you on a journey as you fly into Billings, Montana, visit the sleepy historic mining town of Red Lodge, then drive up and over the nation’s most historic scenic road covering Beartooth Pass and finally parachute into the Northeastern part of Yellowstone Park. Plenty of hiking, fly-fishing, wildlife and spectacular scenery is sure to catch your attention as you sit back and look at perhaps the most majestic valleys in the country. Streams such as Soda Butte Creek, the Lamar River and Slough Creek are featured complete with fishing discussions, fly patterns and strategies to plan your next trip.

Target audience: This presentation can be used for a monthly club meeting in a shorter version or in a slightly longer version for a larger general audience such as an annual banquet.

Terrestrials - (Most Popular Presentation) (Fly-Fishing & Fly-Tying talk)

This presentation includes a nice mixture of “bug” information, fly-fishing commentary, and fly patterns all focused on land-born insects known as Terrestrials—the important bug when there is no “hatch.” We cover Ants, Beetles, Crickets, Grasshoppers, Lady Bugs, and Damsel & Dragonflies, with fun facts and practical fishing applications for warm and cold water fish. We continue to add photos, fly patterns, and fishing situations to this presentation on an annual basis.

Target audience: This presentation is mainly for a fly-tying and fly-fishing audience desiring to learn more about Terrestrials.

Working with CDC - (Most Popular Demonstration) (Fly-Tying demo & talk)

Our goal is to conduct a full-length demonstration featuring CDC. We will talk about CDC as a material, where it comes from, its characteristics, where to purchase it, and what determines good quality from poor. We will demonstration tie (on a projected screen) several CDC fly patterns showcasing the CDC Feather Rolling Tool and other techniques. We will talk about specific fishing applications for each pattern tied. We will discuss the various “floatants” and “cleaning agents” available in the marketplace. Finally, we will attempt to demonstrate rather convincingly both the productive powers of CDC and the ease of restoring CDC while on the stream fishing.

Target audience: This demonstration is for a fly-tying audience primarily and a fly-fishing audience secondarily.

Midge Fly-Fishing - (Tactics, Techniques & Patterns) (Fly-Fishing & Fly-Tying talk)

This presentation is designed to introduce fly-fishers and fly-tiers to the world of small flies. Years of subtle, slow-moving, gentle-flowing spring creek fishing—resulting in countless hours of frustration trying to hook big trout, feeding in the surface film on micro-size “whatever”—have all contributed to Glenn’s sickness for MIDGES. Glenn’s goal in this presentation is to draw upon the many books, magazine articles, personal friendships, and other experiences he has had to debunk some of the mystery behind “small fly fishing.” Bug basics are covered along with essential gear, productive patterns, practical fishing techniques, and other B.S. stories, including some fish pics.

Target audience: This presentation is mainly for a fly-tying and fly-fishing audience desiring to learn more about Midge (small fly) fly-fishing.

Paradise Valley, Montana - (Travel, Hiking & Fly-Fishing talk)

With the popularity of the American Western drama television series called Yellowstone- the number one question I get asked is- have you ever fished Montana? This presentation tries to answer that question for a “very small” region of Montana’s vast countryside called Paradise Valley. Nestled between major mountain ranges, Paradise Valley runs north and south between Livingston and Gardiner, MT. The 50-mile scenic drive takes you past beautiful ranchlands and incredible fishing opportunities. The goal of this presentation is to introduce you to that small region, its unique fly-fishing venues, the friendly anchor towns, and some of the beauty that might entice you to make a visit someday.

Target audience: This presentation is a COMBINATION of travel and fly-fishing information.  It is a great introduction to the area for those who have not fished southwestern Montana or visited the smaller, friendly towns.  This presentation can be used in a shorter version for monthly clubs meetings or in a longer version for club banquets.

The Private Spring Creek Waters of Ohio - (Fly-Fishing talk)

Travel with Glenn and Wayne as we introduce you to the precious spring creek venues found in northwestern Ohio. Your trip begins in the historical Castalia, Ohio, on the banks of the famous Cold Creek, which bubbles from beneath the earth’s surface. As you travel downstream, you will make stops at the prestigious Castalia Club, the Ohio State Fish Hatchery, OI’s Millsite Farms (which has been sold), and finally the Sunnybrook Trout Club. Each stop will detail the beauty of this region and highlight the fishing clubs that have evolved over time. Whether it’s the steeped traditions of the Castalia Club, the Blue Holes & steelhead of the Fish Hatchery, the (once) unique blend of corporate & natural feel of Millsite, or the realism of Sunnybrook, something is sure to capture your attention. The final stop will be RockWell Springs Trout Club, where you will see yet another water source and enjoy the beauty of the tree-guarded property. Each stop’s history, layout, people, and fish will be part of your journey.

Target audience: This presentation is for anyone who desires to learn more about the region and its historic fly-fishing venues. Each club is outlined, including how non-members can join or simply visit as a guest.

25 Flies from 25 Years of Fly-Fishing - (Fly-Tying & Fly-Fishing talk)

If you are anything like us, you undoubtedly have your “go-to” fly patterns.  You know the ones that are time tested and seem to produce in virtually any fishing situation.  Some people call them “confidence flies”….others call them “guide flies”.  This presentation aims to introduce you to a few dozen of our absolutely favorite patterns.  Some are fairly proprietary to us, while others have been “stolen” from guides and friends over the years.

Target audience: This presentation is for a fly-fishing audience who wants to learn about productive fly patterns.

Travel Tips to Consider when Planning a Fly-Fishing Trip - (Fly-Fishing talk)

I can remember when I would jump in my car with a Rand McNally road atlas and a Delorme state specific Gazetteer and head out on a fly-fishing trip.  Some 30 years later, I get just as excited to see new water and meet new people, but the process is way different!  Today there is an abundance of information at your fingertips due to the internet, blogs, videos, magazines, fly-shows, fly-clubs, fly-shops and other resources.  This presentation aims to share with you some of the best tips we have learned over the years of fly-fishing travel.  Whether you are planning a trip a few hours away by car or flying to another country, we hope some of out tips are useful as you plan your next adventure.

Target audience: This presentation is mainly for a fly-fishing audience who wants to learn more about fly-fishing travel.
