We believe Dave Whitlock has tied and successfully fished some of the earliest “semi-realistic” crayfish patterns for trout and bass. And, undoubtedly, the Clouser Minnow tied in the correct colors has been used as well. The Full-motion Crayfish was first showed to me by Steve May from Grand River Troutfitters. I knew Steve was known to chase larger Browns and Smallmouth- so I asked him if he had a good crayfish pattern. He through this fly on the table and said “give it a try, its deadly”. They have step-by-step tying instructions on their website. Our kit follows their pattern virtually 100% and contains several colors of materials so you can tie a few different looking crayfish.
