Wildwood Anglers- 1-year Anniversary Celebration

Dec 15, 2020 | Events

If you live in Northwest Ohio and you have an interest in the outdoors, you were treated to a unique store opening- one year ago this weekend.  Brad Dunkle opened Wildwood Anglers in downtown Sylvania, Ohio, as a specialty outdoor adventure shop. Over the past year, the inventory has grown and so has the popularity of this boutique shop.  To celebrate a year of hard work and great customer support- Brad kept the shop open Friday and Saturday for extended hours to have the first annual appreciation event. Plenty of merchandise was stocked, storewide sales were offered and raffle items along with food and beverages made it a great time.  Glenn River Fly Co. Ltd was on hand both days to conduct demonstration fly-tying as well as talk to customers about past and future adventures. If you have supported Wildwood Anglers- we Thank you! If you haven’t been into the shop- please stop in.

What is Wildwood Anglers? Wildwood Anglers is a premier fly-fishing guide service and fly shop.   It might be small, but it packs a big punch, with plenty of knowledgeable staff and all the necessary gear &  apparel you need to get started in fly-fishing.

What brands does Wildwood Anglers carry? Wildwood Anglers carries the largest selection of Patagonia apparel for both men and women in the area.  Other premium names include Simms; Rep Your Water and Fishpond. A full line of flies is inventoried from various suppliers for all species of fish from warm water to cold water- fresh to salt.   Accessories, eyewear and other items come from Cliff; Umpqua; Smith; Dr. Slick; Peak Fishing and Hareline Dubbin. Perhaps the coolest thing you will find in the shop, is one-of-a-kind candles, oils, artwork, jewelry and other items from various artists and private labels.

Are there any classes or workshops? Yes, there are classes and workshops for fly casting, beginner fly-fishing, and advanced fly-fishing.  Glenn River Fly Co. Ltd also helps run the “beginner” and “intermediate” fly-tying classes. Make sure you check Wildwood Anglers’ website for event offerings!

What kind of guiding does Wildwood Anglers do? Well, just about anything you would like to do.  They run trips in Michigan for Trout, Steelhead and Salmon.  They run trips in the Cleveland streams for Steelhead- Steelhead Alley.  They take plenty of folks on the Maumee River and other local streams. And, they have access to smaller ponds for warm water fish as well.  Stop in and talk to Brad and I am sure he can draw something up for you!

Favorite Fly-Tying Hooks
