Pink Fox Jig Fly
$20.00
There is quite a bit of influence behind this pattern. First, the jig fly concept has spawned from European style Competition fishing. Often used as the “point” fly in a 2 or 3 fly rig, it helps get the flies down and tends to ride hook-up. Second, the twotone color combination using darker (thorax) and lighter (abdomen) red fox squirrel fur is based on Dave Whitlock’s famous nymph. Lastly, the concept of a “hot spot”- again very common to European style Competition patterns- where bright or flourecent colors are added as a trigger. If you fish the Driftless Region spring creeks in Wisconsin & Minnesota like we do, you’ve undoubtedly heard of the Pink Squirrel! Hence the reason we added pink as our hot spot.
If you fish a Copper John or other beadhead with confidence, give jig fly patterns a try. Often we tie an unweighted fly behind this pattern, such as a Midge Larva or Soft Hackle. This is a very productive- but virtually unfished style of fishing.
