Hornberg Dry
$20.00
Frank Hornberg, a game warden from Central Wisconsin, created the original Hornberg in the 1920’s. The origianl pattern called for yellow neck hackle, Mallard flank feathers, grizzly hackle and even Jungle Cock eyes. It has been used by many over the years (and by me) as a large dry fly and also classified and fished wet as a streamer. Our kit fly is something I stumbled across on the internet one day. It is a modified Hornberg, tied in smaller sizes for Trout and Panfish. It features yellow hackle fibers, Mallard flank feather fibers and hackle- much like the original pattern. I have fished this fly as a “searching” dry fly just about everywhere I have fished, catching Trout, Grayling and Panfish on it regularly.
