The “soft hackle” wet fly is as old as the day is long. We can’t begin to describe how effective this pattern is and how little it is used by fly-fishers. Our good friend Oliver Edwards, from the United Kingdom, ties and fishes this pattern on his series of instructional videos. The traditional soft hackle patterns include the “Partridge and Orange”, the “Snipe and Purple” and the “Waterhen Bloa” (yellow). Our kit features a body material that we call- GB3 Body Thread- we include several colors so you can tie different patterns. We also have included various soft hackle feathers, so you can get practice working with different feathers. Lastly, each kit contains a small spool of GREEN wire. Try tying a few soft hackles with a GREEN wire body- an absolute killer Caddis pattern. (See 2nd photo on website to the left.)
If you haven’t fished a soft hackle tandem or used them as a “dropper” fly- wow….you are missing out on a deadly offering. Our “Fly-Kit”tm will also include 2 tools- a Wayne’s Dubbing Hook tool and a pair of inexpensive Pliers, which are very useful, especially when tying soft hackles.
